Phillip Rassel, Vice President, US East Division is responsible for all of Metrostudy's markets in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia. With a background in real estate research, Mr. Rassel started his career underwriting the real estate used in private placement syndications for MGIC Investment Corporation. While at MGIC, he helped set up the first risk management reporting system for the largest private mortgage insurer in the United States. Mr. Rassel then went on to become a project analyst for Wilma Southeast, the US division of the largest builder and developer in the Netherlands. He returned to the mortgage insurance industry as Risk Manager for GE Mortgage Insurance, responsible for monitoring economic factors effecting housing markets in the Mid-Atlantic, Southwest and Southeastern regions of the US. Before joining Metrostudy as Director of the Atlanta market in 1996, Mr. Rassel worked for Fannie Mae negotiating mortgage backed security contracts. After graduating from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1980, Mr. Rassel went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Real Estate and Urban Affairs from Georgia State University. His area of concentration was real estate analysis and land use economics. Mr. Rassel is active in Rotary International and serves as Vice-Chairman of the DeKalb County, Georgia Board of Tax Assessors.
