Eugune James presents at the Atlanta Regional Commission Land Use Committee Meeting

Eugene James of Metrostudy recently spoke to government officials from various regional municipalities on a variety of issues affecting the Atlanta area housing market at the Atlanta Regional Commission meeting for Land Use Planners.

A few of the highlights taken from his discussion with this distinguished group was:

  • The Atlanta region will continue to be a magnet for millennials and families who will migrate to Atlanta from out of state in order to enjoy the rich culture and national sporting events taking place throughout the year in the region.
  •  Traffic in the suburbs will continue to make living inside I-285 look even more attractive if you work inside the perimeter. However home prices (and apartment rents) will continue to climb and push living close, out of reach of many who simply can’t afford it.
  • Since home prices will continue to rise closer in (and already unaffordable for many), the exurbs are expected to boom in 2018-2019, and will experience higher population and housing growth rates.
