Ground Up: Construction Lending Summit

On August 22nd, Land Gorilla in conjunction with MRG hosted the Ground Up: Construction Lending Summit at Venue Forty 50 in Addison. Many national industry leaders specializing in construction loan financing were in attendance. Our DFW regional director, Paige Shipp, had the honor of kicking off the summit.

Paige shared Metrostudy’s proprietary new home data on a national, state and regional level.  The key takeaways were the lack of affordable, new homes due to rising land, material and labor costs and shortage of new home lots due to difficult and expensive development financing.  Paige’s presentation laid the groundwork for the subsequent presenters and panelists who explored the current state and future of the construction lending industry.

Additional topics focused on how the market is currently primed for lenders, how to avoid legal pitfalls when underwriting loans, and ways to utilize strategic partnerships to grow businesses. Joaquin Tremols, Director of the USDA and Daniel McPheeters, Product Development Manager at Fannie Mae shared fascinating insight into rolling out more options to finance USDA projects. Affordable housing was top of mind for most leaders.
