Chief Economist Mark Boud Gives National Overview

Mark Boud discussed the different issues currently impacting the housing market, including tax reform, national debt and what that means for the next few years. Boud provides some indicators of an economic downturn to look out for, but also some positive indicators that we’ll keep seeing for the next few quarters.

Regional Directors Offer an Inside Look into Florida Markets

Tony Polito kicked the regional outlook off with an in-depth look into the Tampa and Sarasota-Bradenton markets. Polito touched upon the seasonal migration to Florida, discussed the strong housing recovery currently happening in the Sarasota market and gave insight into the increased starts and closings happening in the Tampa market.

David Cobb, the Regional Director of South and Southwest Florida discussed the Miami, Naples, Ft. Myers and  Treasure Cove markets. Cobb touched on how South and Southwest Florida lead the nation in months of housing supply, where the region is after Hurricane Irma, and the impacts of income trends in the different markets.

Regional Director of Central Florida and Jacksonville, Toby Hoff, wrapped up the granular look into Florida metros with a discussion on the Orlando and Jacksonville markets. Hoff spoke about changes in key metrics from last fall to now, including the number of new listings, median sales price and months of housing supply, as well as the impacts of employment and the health of the resale market.
